Performing loopback on STM ports

Perform the steps given below to provide a loopback on STM port.

Click Maintenance > Loop-Backs > STM in the navigation pane. The Port_SDH loopback preview pane is displayed.
Click the desired STM port link on which you want to perform the loopback. The Port maintenance STM-1-<slot number>-<port number> preview pane is displayed.
Click on LoopBack Mode drop down and select the desired loopback operation.
Click Submit. A confirmation message is displayed.
Click Accept Valid Modifications. A "Successfully Modified" message is displayed under the Warnings field.
A click on Back link will direct you to the Port maintenance preview pane of the same interface.

STM port LoopBack Modes

Parameter	Description
Normal Operation	Normal operation is configured on the port.
Facility LoopBack	Loopback is configured at the ingress.
Terminal LoopBack	Loopback is configured at the egress.
Transparent LoopBack	The traffic is looped back and a copy of the traffic is sent forward. This allows loopbacks on optical ports without disrupting all the services in the card.
