The OAMC card provides static user interfaces for managing operations, administration, maintenance and controller of the system. OAMC performs Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) processing up to 100Mbps, control path processing and timing functions.
The OSC ports (P2 and P3) are used for out of band optical management communication for the DWDM configuration of the node. P4 is used as LCT port and P5 is used as NMS port.
NOTE: Port P1 is not supported for this release.

BITS interface is provided through RJ45 connector for the Data port and clock port. The BITS clock input is at 2.048 MHz and can be nominated as a reference for node synchronization. Loss-of-Signal (LOS) is detected on the clock input and this triggers to change over to the next synchronization reference. The timing reference failed alarm is reported on the user interface. The BITS data input is at 2.048 Mbps. Both PCM30 and PCM31 (with/without CRC) framing can be used on the input. This input can be nominated as a reference for node synchronization. LOS, LOF and AIS are detected on this input and this triggers to change over to the next synchronization reference. The timing reference failed alarm is reported on the user interface. The OAMC card contains redundant timing interfaces. The node can be synchronized from the following sources from OAMC card:
The DIAG interface is a USB connector provided on the front panel of the OAMC card. This interface offers a serial connection to node using which a user can launch a terminal session to log onto the Operating System.
NOTE: The diagnostic interface is meant for use by authorized Tejas Networks personnel only.
The Local Craft Terminal (LCT) is an additional LAN interface( Port P4). The LCT is provided through a RJ-45 connector. The additional LAN interface runs a DHCP server and the port has a fixed IP address192.168.1.254, which cannot be changed. The LAN port is therefore always available for debugging through the GUI or a telnet session if there is any problem with the local LAN. The active cross connect and control card directly drives the NMS interface LEDs. The cross connect and control card does not do any processing on this interface.
Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) interface receives the management information from the Optical supervisory channel filter, on the DWDM transmission path, primarily at the Intermediate Line Amplifier (ILA) sites. OSC carries the management information related to the DWDM channels and enable to detect the fiber cuts and/or transmission degradation in the DWDM trunk. Typical wavelengths used for supervisory channel are 1490nm and 1510 nm which are well outside the C-band DWDM transmission. Two SFP interfaces (OSC1 and OSC2) are provided for processing the OSC information from east and west directions which can cater up to 44dB of loss in the standard optical fiber.
The OAMC card provides seven external alarm inputs and four external alarm outputs.
NOTE: The PSS and 10M interfaces indicated on faceplate of OAMC card is supported in future releases.
OAMC card has a processor complex to perform APS/IBC route communication/Node management and other miscellaneous functions required for the system.
