HCPXCC04

This cross-connect and control card performs processing, data path processing, cross-connect switching, fabric and timing functions. It supports cross-connect of either 640G HO/OTN or 900G OTN. capacity. HCPXCC04 unit is supported in slot 5 and slot 6 of the TJ1600 Type-11SR chassis.

Front Panel

There is an Active and a Status LED on the front panel. Apart from LEDs, the front panel has a connector for DIAG interface. There is a push-button RESET to give hard reset to the processor. Early ejection switch is also located on the front panel.

Visual Indicator Details

The visual indicators on the HCPXCC04 card include two LEDs, the ACTIVE and the STATUS LEDs.

DIAG Interface

The DIAG interface is a USB connector provided on the front panel of the HCPXCC04 card. This interface offers a serial connection to node using which a user can launch a terminal session to log onto the Operating System.

NOTE: The diagnostic interface is meant for use by authorized Tejas Networks personnel only.

Functional Description

HCPXCC04 card supports the following functional features:

Supports cross-connect options, 640G HO/OTN or 900G OTN.
Supports cross-connect card redundancy. In redundant mode, system will contain 2 such cards, one in each cross-connect card slot 5 and slot 6.
Supports the DIAG interface which is a USB connector provided on the front panel of the HCPXCC04 card. This interface offers a serial connection to node using which a user can launch a terminal session to log onto the Operating System.
Switch to holdover in absence of selected primary and/or secondary reference clocks.
Responsible for protection switching, In-Band Communication (IBC), alarm handling, Over Head (OH) byte handling, User Interface (UI) provisioning and management of the node.
Live insertion and hot-swap capability.
Card present information of all cards in the system to detect jack-in/jack-out of cards in the system.
Temperature monitoring.
Supports 4GB disks.

The key functions of HCPXCC04 card are as follows:

Processor Function: HCPXCC04 card has a processor that performs the configuration, control, and processing of all the other subsystems. The processor is a micro controller which has on board external memory to implement the required functions. The software residing in this block controls the overall management of the system. This function is also responsible for implementing watchdog logic for the system.
Cross-connect Function: HCPXCC04 card has a 640G HO/OTN or 900G OTN. cross-connect capacity, grooming the traffic at higher and lower order levels. The cross-connect function provides Line to Line, Line to Tributary, Tributary to Line, Tributary to Tributary type of cross-connects. Cross-connect latency is less than 20 µs for HO traffic.
Synchronization Function: HCPXCC04 card has a Stratum-3 compliant clock generation unit. The PLL in synchronization unit can synchronize to a variety of timing sources, selected through the user interface. Synchronization Status Messaging (SSM) is implemented in the software to propagate the clock quality information to neighboring elements and to select the best quality clock among a set of nominated clock sources. The synchronization unit is commonly called the timing module.
