Provisioning MSP Group

Perform the steps given below to provision MSP group.

  1. Click Configuration > MSP groups in the navigation pane. The View MSP groups preview pane is displayed.
  2. Click on the Create MSP group link. The Provision port protection preview pane is displayed.

  3. Select the value for the parameters. For parameter description, the default and acceptable values supported, refer to MSP group parameters table given below.
  4. Click Submit. A confirmation page is displayed.
  5. Click Yes. A "Successfully created the Port Protection Group" message is displayed.

    A click on View Port Protection Groups link will direct you to the View MSP groups preview pane.

Working port

Allows you to select/configure the channel that will carry the traffic under normal working conditions.

Protection mode

Allows you to select the type of protection as 1+1.

Admin Reversion Mode

Allows you to select the reversion mode.

  • Revertive: This mode enables automatic switching to work channel from protect channel, once the fault on work channel is fixed.
  • Non-Revertive: In this mode, traffic has to be manually switched from protect to work channel. Until traffic is manually switched back to work channel, traffic is carried on protect channel.

WTRTime (minutes)

Allows you to select a time interval (in minutes) after which the traffic must switch back to work channel upon rectification of work channel. This parameter is applicable and editable when 'Admin Reversion Mode' is set to Revertive.

Protection switching mode

Allows you to select the protection switching mode.

  • 1WAY: Only the Head end node's receiver switches to the alternate receiver on receiving an alarm.
  • 2WAY: Both the head end and the tail end node's receiver switches to the alternate receiver on receiving an alarm.

Route Diversity

Allows you to enable or disable route diversity.

  • Enable: Allows you to have two DCC links. You can provision DCC on both work and protect port. The ports act independently.
  • Disable: When disabled, user can provision DCC link only on work port. Also, deletion of MSP is not allowed since the ports are not independent.

NOTE 1: Default value for the Working port is the first available port, either STM-N interface (in ascending order).

NOTE 2: Default value for the Protecting port will be the first available port, depending upon the type of interface selected in the Working port.
