This section describes link failure analysis. Link failure analysis involves steps of failing a link and detecting the impact on the services that are owing through the failed link. The following steps describe about the link failure analysis for a network which is selected by a user:
To do Link failure analysis, click on Analysis option menu and select Link Failure Analysis, a form will be opened as shown in figure.
Select the RWA result from the drop-down list
Select the service from the drop-down service list and click on Submit button
There are two kinds in selecting the services:
A service which does not have disjoint service
A service which has disjoint service
Link failure analysis for a service without disjoint service
This section describes link failure analysis for a service without disjoint service. Following are the steps:
Select the service from the drop-down service list and click on Submit.
Planning tool will create an animation to trace the work path for the selected service using a green color circular marker as shown in figure.
Select the link which is to be disabled by clicking left mouse button on the link. Upon selection the link is highlighted in red color signifying that the link is out of order or has failed.
Click on Run which is available at the top-right corner to view the restoration path on canvas and pop up will appear to show the affected services.
Click on Reset which is available at the top-right corner to clear.
Link failure analysis for a service with disjoint service
This section describes link failure analysis for a service being with disjoint services. Following are the steps:
For the same RWA result, we shall perform one more node failure analysis. This time we will select a service that has condition to be disjoint with another service.
Select the service from the drop-down list and also select disjoint service with respect to the service from the drop-down list. In this example, A=F:S1 service being selected and A=E:S4 is disjoint service with respect to S1 service is being selected.
Disjoint service will appear in the Select Disjoint Service box. Click on the disjoint service i.e., A=E:S4 service being highlighted with a color in multi select widget.
Click on Submit.
NOTE: If a service is disjoint with many other services then multi select widget will allow to select multiple services
Planning tool will create an animation to trace the work path for the selected service and disjoint service is shown using a green and dark green color using circular marker as shown in Figure.
Planning tool will create an animation to trace the work path of all disjoint services is shown using dark green, yellow and blue color circular markers respectively. Maximum four colors are supported green, dark green, yellow and blue color.
Select the link which is to be disabled by clicking left mouse button on the link. Upon selection the link is highlighted in red color signifying that the link is out of order or has failed.
Click on Run button which is available at the top-right corner to view the restoration path on canvas and pop up will appear to show the affected services.
Click on Reset button which is available at the top-right corner to clear.
