OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG

OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG provides a high output power of up to 26/23dBm. This enables longer reach spans for high loss networks. This 26/23dBm EDFA is housed in a standalone 1 RU 19’’ sub-rack which can be used along with this node. OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG has redundant -48V DC power supply unit.

This unit can be interfaced to Element Management Software (EMS) as standalone unit or integrated through the systems using the RJ45 NMS port.

LAN interface

The LAN Interface provides a CSMA/CD based LAN transceiver of an Ethernet link. This is available as an RJ-45 connector. The Ethernet address is available in the non-volatile memory on the OAM card.

The LAN interface physical layer is completely implemented in hardware. The physical layer device provides clock recovery, bit timing, equalization and a ‘Jabber’ circuit. The Media Access Control (MAC) function is implemented in software available as part of the microcontroller. ‘Jabber’ circuitry ensures that the transmitter does not hold up the interface for more than a full frame of data.

The LAN interface is associated with two LEDs namely Green and Amber that are used to indicate link status of the connector.

LAN interface can be connected directly to the element management software and can be connected to the available NMS port on the systems.

External alarms interface

The OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG card provides seven external alarm outputs.

OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG can export 7 alarm signals to the system through a standard RJ45 interface. These alarm signals are Power Supply A Alarm, Power Supply B Alarm, Input Power Alarm, Output Power Alarm, Pump Current Alarm, Pump Temperature, and Module Temperature.

OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG is a fixed very low gain EDFA that gives a high output power of the order of 26/23 dBm.

There are two operating modes supported:

OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG is used for optical amplification in POTP and DWDM configuration of the system.

In general, OFA-C-S26-FG/OFA-C-S23-FG is followed by OFA cards to boost the incoming signal strength in order to get the rated output power of 26dBm as the gain in this EDFA is very low (in the order of 6-8dB).
