MDU-16CL-C-50G

The MDU-16CL-C-50G is a 16-channel multiplexer and demultiplexer active optical card. In add direction, it uses 16x1 passive optical combiner and in drop direction, it uses a 1x16 WSS. Any wavelength can be added or dropped from the respective add and drop ports and hence this acts as a colorless MDU. It occupies 2 slots in this node. When this card is used in conjunction with the ROADM cards, a colorless and direction less architecture of the ROADM nodes can be realized.

Visual indicator details

The visual indicators on the MDU-16CL-C-50G card has two LEDs - the Sts (Status) LED indicate the status of the card and the Act (Active) LED indicates whether the card is active or not.

Functional description

Schematic diagram of the MDU-16CL-C-50G card connectivity is given below. In the add directions, optical splitter is used for multiplexing and in the drop direction, WSS are used for demultiplexing functionalities. In the drop direction, per channel VOA can also be used.
