Create circuit for Circuit Emulation

Circuits can be created across multiple EMS and Partitions in NMS.

To create circuit, do the following steps:

Attributes of Create Circuit- Circuit Emulation

Attribute

Description

Create Circuit

Circuit Type

Select the type of circuit - P2P Circuit.

Sub Type

Select the option as 'SDH/SONET/PDH/VCG'.

Circuit name

Enter the name of the circuit.

Customer

Enter the name of the customer. The drop-down list will be displayed after entering the character in the field. If the drop-down list does not display any customer names, the user can create customer by clicking on the C link available against this field. The Create Customer page is displayed. Refer to the Manage Customers section for further details.

Capacity

Select the capacity:

  • VT1.5/VC11
  • VT2/VC12
  • STS1/VC3
  • STS-3c/VC4

Direction

The direction is always Bi (Bi-directional).

Copies

Enter the number of copies of the circuit required.

Links

Enter the number of links required. This is applicable only for VCG circuits.

Higher Order

Check this box if higher order circuit has to be created.

NOTE: Single Node Higher Order circuit can be discovered in the NMS by enabling the singleton support.

Class Of Service

Select the class of Service. By default, the class of service is Unprotected.

Source Information

Src Traffic Type

Select the desired source traffic type from the drop down menu.

Node

Enter the source node name. On entering a letter, the list pertaining to that letter will be displayed.

NOTE: On selecting the option IP, you can enter the IP instead of the node name.

Port

Select the desired port.

Time slot

Select the desired time slot.

NOTE: The Add Source Protection option enables you to protect the source port. This option is not applicable to VCG circuit types.

Destination Information

Dest Traffic Type

Select the desired source traffic type from the drop down menu.

Node

Enter the destination node name. On entering a letter, the list pertaining to that letter will be displayed.

NOTE: On selecting the option IP, you can enter the IP instead of the node name.

Port

Select the desired port.

Time slot

Select the desired time slot.

NOTE: The Add Destination Protection option enables you to protect the source port. This option is not applicable to VCG circuit types.

NOTE: The source and destination protection should be on the same nodes. Only multi-end points on the same nodes are supported.

Modifying the Timeslots for CEM

NOTE: The CEM service should be already created. This CEM service will be used as trunk in case of CEM circuit.

To modify the time slots, do the following steps:

  1. Go to Configuration > Layer 1 > Create Circuit and click P2P/MEP Circuit option. Create Circuit page is displayed.
  2. Click Start Route Creation. The graphical view is shown at the right side of the window.
  3. The user has to manually select the path from source to destination. A table with all outgoing topological links from source node is displayed. It can be seen by selecting the node (source or any other node) and then clicking on "Expand" button. The table contains topological links outgoing from the selected/highlighted node, with port details.
  4. Double-click the desired topological link in the table to select the path.
  5. For creating protect path, select the class of service as "Protected".
  6. Select a node for creating the protect path.
  7. Click WorkPath to see the work path. The work path is highlighted. The Properties section displays the details about the object selected in All Routes section.
  8. Click ProtectPath to see the protect path. The protect path is highlighted. The Properties section displays the details about the object selected in All Routes section.
  9. Select the trunk from the create circuit window to modify the time slots.

    Edit Timeslot

  10. Select the desired time slot from the Properties window after clicking the R button.
  11. Select the Create option. The circuit will be in planned state in NMS and it will be stored in the database OR Select the Create & Activate option. The cross connects will be provisioned on the node as well as the NMS.
